La historia del municipio de Capdepera es tan atrapante como la mística de sus grandes calas, y encuentra acontecimientos fundadores de antiguos pueblos incluso desde el nacimiento de los primeros siglos.
Tradicionalmente, es un sitio de importantes conflictos armados y ataques piratas, lo que llevó al rey Jaime II de Mallorca a establecer un decreto para la construcción una enorme muralla que protegiera a los pueblos de las fuerzas invasoras.
Así es que hacia el siglo XIV, se funda una ciudad de piedra con no más de unas cincuenta casas en su interior y doscientos habitantes ofuscados por la escasez de espacio para la producción agrícola y ganadera. Cuando la fortaleza pierde su valor estratégico en los inicios de 1820, los militares abandonan su puesto y sus ciudadanos comienzan a instalarse en zonas aledañas donde se afirman los cimientos culturales de lo que es el actual pueblo de Capdepera.
Hoy en día, el municipio se ha convertido en uno de los puntos más turísticos del Mediterráneo con gran diversidad de paisajes marítimos, playas vírgenes, gastronomía autóctona y paseos de culto que conquistan tanto a lugareños como a visitantes atraídos por la inmensidad de un paraíso terrenal.

Die Geschichte der Gemeinde Capdepera ist so fesselnd wie die Mystik seiner großen Buchten. In den ersten Jahrhunderten wurde Capdepera durch das Zusammentreffen verschiedener Völker geprägt und gegründet.
Traditionell ist es ein Ort von bedeuteten bewaffneten Konflikten und Angriffen von Piraten, die König Jaime II von Mallorca dazu veranlasst haben, eine riesige Mauer zu errichten um die Menschen vor Invasionstruppen zu schützen. Nach dem vierzehnten Jahrhundert wurde innerhalb der Stadtmauer eine kleine Stadt mit nicht mehr als etwa fünfzig Häusern und zweihundert Einwohnern gegründet. Die Bauern, die Versorgungsengpässe und Platzmangel befürchteten, folgten dem Aufruf nur schleppend. Als die Festung ihren strategischen Wert in den frühen 1820er Jahren verlor, verließ das Militär seinen Posten und die Bürger begannen sich in den umliegenden Gebieten anzusiedeln, wo die kulturellen Grundlagen dessen, was das heutige Capdepera ist, gelegt wurden.
Heute bietet die Stadt am Mittelmeer viele touristische Attraktionen, wie eine maritime Landschaft, eine Vielzahl an unberührten Stränden, lokale Küche sowie eine Reise durch die Geschichte und die Kultur dieser Stadt, die sowohl Einheimische als auch Besucher wegen der Unermesslichkeit dieses irdischen Paradieses in ihren Bann zieht.
The history of the district of Capdepera is as enthralling as the mystique of its great coves, and meets founding events of ancient peoples even from the beggining of the first centuries.
Traditionally, it has been a place of important armed conflicts and pirate attacks, which leads to king James II of Mallorca to establish a decree for the building of a great wall aimed to protect the towns from the occupying forces. Thus, towards the 14th century, a stone city was founded with no more than fifty houses inside and two hundred inhabitants, angry about the lack of space for agricultural and livestock production. When the fortress lost its strategic value in the early 1820s, the militaries abandoned its positions and the citizens began to settle in the surrounding areas, where the cultural foundations of what is now the town of Capdepera were affirmed.
Nowadays, the district has become one of the most touristic spots of the Mediterranean with a great diversity of maritime landscapes, virgin beaches, native gastronomy and cult walks which make both locals and visitors feel attracted by the immensity of an earthly paradise.
