The method using embedded stones, bound without mortar, belongs to the Mallorcan tradition.

Strictly speaking, both the word and this technique of working with the stones comes from Quechua. Pirca or pirqa means wall. But it is also true that this type of construction, which has strongly developed in Spain, is still being a tradition in certain areas, such as the island of Mallorca.

To work the stone in this way implies a deeply rooted technique and almost artistic knowledge in the use of the stones because the walls are built without any mortar: the joints between the embedded stones are natural, a job difficult to achieve without constant practice.

However, the beauty of the work, that rough stone which becomes a wall, returns art in its utmost rusticity. And it makes the landscapes have a particular style which refers to other centuries.
